Is this Angina

On Jan 4 I went to the ER with heart rate of 170. Lopressor brought it under control.  Put me on Atten. 50 mgs.  I had an ECG and bloodwork done and remember no pain during the event.  The next day I started having chest and shoulder pain.  Went to my Dr. to see if normal, ran an ECG and said was fine.  Still had chest pain 2 days later went back to ER did chest x-ray, more blood work, including trop test, and another 2 ECG's (heart racing again).  ER doc said wasn't heart attack maybe nerves.  Reffered to Cardio b/c said ECG wasn't quite normal.  Cardio did another ECG, stress test (only got heart rate up to 160 b/c of atten.)  I am 25.  Cardio said was ok.  Pain subsided after vist to cardio. Primary ordered echo and extensive blood work.  Echo came back normal I think EF was over 80.  Said possible minor wall thickening, said it was borderline. End of Feb. started having chest pains again after sitting around think about heart went to cardio thought I was becoming cardiac cripple.  Went for another month and a half lost 40 pounds and bp came down, was high.  Primary cut atten. to 25 mgs.  Started having chest pains after greasy meal on good Friday.  Had a resting Sinus Tach (no pain) this past Friday.  Lopressor brought down.  Still have chest pains.  Come at rest actually feel better when strenous walking.  Am scared to death going back to cardio today.  Does this sound like angina?  No CAD in family, am overweight but losing, bp controled w/ med, quit dipping in Jan, chs. normal good a little low.  Pain seems to move arround in chest, shoulder, ribs, back.  Any ideas?

Are you generally an anxious person?  When I used to feel flutters and/or PVCs and didn't know what they were, it made me nervous which set my adrenaline going.  This then gave me the shakes or chills afterwards.  Perhaps that is what happened with you?

Hi, once in a while I get what feels like a fluttering feeling in my upper chest. Last night along with that feeling, I had the  shivers or that uncontrolable shaking feeling when you are getting a fever. It later subsided. I did not feel cold or get a fever. I felt nervous not knowing what this could be. I took an asprin. This morning the fluttering feeling is gone. What is this?

hi.....everything you posted is completely normal.  trivial is nothing to be concerned about (everyone has some trivial leakage)..i'm 23 and my echo said trivial mitral regurg. and trivial leakage on another valve as well - it's completely normal.  the murmur (flow murmur is normal as well).  if you had an echo, the murmur would be seen on the ultrasound.  it's just a little leakage, which is probably 1/6 grade (which is nothing).  so don't worry about that, everyone has some trivial leakage.  take care.

Dear Camel24,

Sorry to hear about your chest discomfort. You are 25 years old and do not seem to have any cardiac risk factors. Thus the chest discomfort you describe is unlikely angina. You have had a normal stress test and echocardiogram and are likely in a low risk category. The chest discomfort you have been experiencing  may be related to the rapid heart rates you have at times. I would recommend continued exercise and further weight loss. You should also be evaluated for GI causes of your pain such as reflux disease or peptic ulcer disease. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question,

dear dr.i am sorry i am taking this space to write to you but for days i have been trying to post a question and not been able to get through, and can afford to pay  to post a question right now.my question is what does trivial mean?on my echo said trivial mitral regurgitation that does not appear to be hemodynamically significant and in fact could probably be considered as a normal finding.everything was normal no evidence of mvp.at the end it said essentially a normal study.but my dr. never told me where my murmur was or if i had to take antibiotics before dental procedures.the technician that did the echo said it was a flow murmur???i would really appreciate if you could kindly answer my questions.i am 32 yr female.thak you much.
