Hey there, the septum is the wall that separates the left and right side of your heart. The walls of the left ventricle should be less than 12mm to be considered normal, some labs put it at 11mm. A measurement of 14mm is considered mild. The measurement of the walls of your left ventricle were most likely taken at the septum. Left ventricular hypertrophy is the result of the walls being outside the normal range.

The most important thing is to find out the reason why it is enlarged. It is usually due to higher pressures in the heart which cause it to work harder.

Hope this helps,

Jon
