Chest tightness and upper abdominal pain

Brief history: I have coronary artery disease with 2 stents and failed bypass (as grafted vessels are too small). I also have dysautonomia with hypotension, which is currently somewhat under control. My symptoms currently are chest tightness and tight feeling in stomach, with burping, on exertion. I also get pain between my shoulders. My angina symptoms, in the past, have been different each time. That is why I pose this question. Could GERD be a possiblity on exertion, with the burping? Or should I be concerned that this may be angina. It seems to be getting more frequent and sometimes with less exertion. It is difficult to take nitro with the low blood pressure, but the tightness seems to pass when I rest for a minute or so or walk slower. (Bypass surgery was 1 year ago and the stent placed after was 10 mo. ago). Thank you for your help.

ATJT,

Thanks for the post.

There are a lot of things in the chest that can cause pain or discofort. Unfortunately a lot of them can mask as angina.  GERD certainly can cause the symptoms you mention.  If you have had a recent negative ischemia evaluation it might be an avenuse worth pursuing. I would discuss your symptoms with your cardiologist or internist.

good luck

I've an elephant sit on my chest all the time.  If the elephant not there, here comes the "train".  I wander the ranger would take that elephant away and lock it up securely.

I think it is all "Verapamil" fault.  My chest tight started from taking the super "V".  I stopped it already and the chest tight started from there and getting more and more.  Now doesn't want to go away.

I'm going to see the gastro Dr early December. If "Helicobacter Pylori" is exist, that means my A-Fib will cure as well.  I didn't have artery disease.  I hope you get well soon.  Pika.
