One Week on Atenolol

by kuckla, Apr 07, 2008 06:41AM
One week ago my Endocrinologist put me on 50mg of Atenolol upon my first office visit, for anxiety, and to monitor me with other issues.

I weigh 100 pounds and am 5'2''.  WIthin 3 days I called back after reading how hard it is to get off and asked to get off it or wean off.  I was told to reduce the dose by 1/2 and now I am at taking 12mg a day, but I want off.

Any suggestions.  This is day 9.

Never heard of taking Atenolol for anxiety.  But, I did come across a doctor a few years ago that knew more about drugs than I do.

I wouldn't think there would be much of a problem with tapering off after taking it for 3 days.  That probably wouldn't be long enough to build up to a therapeutic dose in your system, anyway.
