Open Heart Surgery

My mother just had an open heart surgery.  She is over weight an also has low bone density related problems.  Her chest bone wall is not recovering as fast as her doctors were expecting.  I was wondering if there is some sort of medication that would speed up the healing process?  Your swift reply would be greatly appreciated.

The doctors do give antibiotic IV to help fight off infection if that is causing the problem with her healing.  Sometimes the bones do not heal.  The chest is wired together.  My mom's chest did not heal and she lived 12 years with no pain.  When she had her second open heart surgery, the surgeon said that her chest bones never healed.  If she is diabetic, this could also slow done the healing process.
