Question on Atrial Septal Aneurysm

Question on Atrial Septal Aneurysm

Hello. I had an echocardiogram done and am wondering if the following result is something that I should be seen for by a cardiologist, or if this is a non-risk, or normal issue. I am a 48 yr old female with COPD. The reason for the echo was because of some chest pain I was experiencing.  I'd like to point out that I have been experiencing sudden feelings of eyes being very heavy, followed by a little bit of dizziness & darkness what feels is an upcoming passing out/fainting spell.  I've yet to pass out, but have come close. My oxygen levels are find when this happens.

The result reads:

Atrial septum: There was a septal aneurysm, which is an incidental finding probably related to elaastic atrial septum.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you.

This is a common finding and certainly isn't the cause of the chest pain or the near passing out.  I would not be concerned about this finding.  The passing out needs to be worked up further. You will probably need a Tilt Table Test.
