Just had Echo and received report. Essentially normal except for notation of Pericardial fat pad present and Left Ventricular diastolic function - impaired relaxation noted. Symptoms include shortness of breath with even minor exertion, swelling in lower extremities but have noticed increased edema in abdomen and just under breasts. Have difficulty exercising due to arthritis in knees and ankles, shoulders and elbows. Ejection fraction > 55%. Cardiac Cath in April basically normal. What is significance of Pericardial fat pad? I know I need to lose weight. Will that get rid of the fat pad?
