The number should be under 4.0 to 1 for best results. Also as important, you HDL/LDL ration should be under .3 for the lowest risk.

But obviously the actual lipid count is just as important if not more important. If you have very high LDL and a good HDL ratio, you still have much more LDL in your system which causes a higher risk for forming plaque.
