VO2 stress test

I had a VO2 stress test last week and was told I did very well, scored a 24.7 which they said was "almost normal". What is normal on this test for a 42 year old male?

Hmmm...my 51 year old husband had this test in April and was told he performed very well...at roughly 87% for a man his age. His acore was around 19.7.  I am now wondering if that was with the METS formulas that Cleveland Clinic uses? He was cleared for all exercise and told that the probability of his having a "cardiac event" within the next 2 years is between 1 & 3 percent.  He had ben diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 12/00, but has made a significant recovery since then

Dear jade,

For the Cleveland Clinic population the average range for a 42 year old male is 29.75 to 40 ml/kg.  A score of 24.7 would put you on the low end of the fair range.  Below is a copy of the table we use for functional assessment in METS.  To translate VO2 to METS divide by 3.5.

Women
Age Low Fair   Average   Good         High
20 - 29 < 7.5 8 - 10.3 10.3 - 12.5 12.5 - 16 > 16
