abnormal ecg

I am 47 and 155 lb. I went to my heart doctor to get an ecg before minor surgery since I have a leaky valve and aortic insufficiency. The readout had printed "Normal sinus rhythm"; "Possible Inferior infarct, age undetermined"; "Anterelateral infarct, age undetermined"; and "Abnormal ECG".  The two items about infarct had been crossed out by the doctor and he wrote "Small Q waves II, III, aVF and V4-6 - nondiagnostic."  What is an infarct? Might I have this or is it on all ecgs with a certain rythym?  I will go back in Febr. for another echo to see if things have changed in a year.  I asked my family MD if the ecg looked ok. He said it was nothing to write home about, He suppossed my next echo might show changes from the last one. He said the lotensin could be producing my morning cough. I am taking Lotensin 30 mg. to keep heart slower so not as much blood leaks back into heart. For the past two months I have been dizzy a lot, sometimes I think it is connected with my eyes, other times when I drive I feel like I should put my foot outside the car to hold everything upright. I am exhausted a lot and have occassional chest pain, but also numerous sinus infections and coughing. I had been having a lot of palpitations, and had a low (for me) blood pressure 102/60. My normal is 135/70. Heart rate 56.  Dr. did a holter monitor and said it had some irregularties but didn't need med yet. What should I ask Dr.? I only see him once a year and he doesn't usually say much unless I ask specific questions.  Are my symptoms those of leaky valve or might I also have clogged arteries?

Dear sec'ry,
An infarct is short for myocardial infarction, however the initial interpretation of the ECG is done by a computer and your doctor did not agree with the computer. This is why he crossed this out.

I would tell your doctor your symptoms just as you have here.  You can ask him what tests (if any) he would recommend to evaluate the symptoms and what treatment (if any) he would recommend as well.

I forgot to mention that I am a 5'6" female. I do have left sided chest pain when I am getting a sinus infection.  But the other chest pain I get is center chest and crushing, I usually feel that I have to lay down and sometimes I even sleep, this has happened in the middle of the day on occassion and I had to go home from work to rest.  Sec'ry
