aorta aneurysm with bicuspid valve

I have a bicuspid valve.
I also have an aorta root measuring 4.1cm and an ascending aneurysm measuring 5.2cm.
I am going to see a surgeon.
I am terrified of the operation.
Does any of you have any experience to share or some suggestion to offer?

I am not a Doctor, but I have been managing an aorta root of 4.0 and an ascending aorta anuerysm of 4.2.  for the past 2 years or so.  THere has been no change in the measurements.  I also went to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion where they also educate you alot about this condition and treatment.  Surgery is generally recommeded at 5.0--alot depends on your size.  They use a dacron graft to replace your aorta and you are usually home within a week. My MDs at CC assured me that the surgical results areexcellent andif you live a good lifestyle you should live your normal lifespan.  

See a surgeon who has done alot of these operations at a center where this surgery s typical---The Cleveland Clinic was a good place for me.  Good luck and remember what you have is fixable!
