echo report

I am a 68 year old female. I have been getting Echo's over the last 10 years for a heart murmur which I have had all my life. The only results were mild triscupid regurg and mitral regurg. the last echo was 2 years ago.

I am schelduled for a hysterectomy and prolaspe repairs.  just had my echo done and All my chamber assesssments were in norml function nd size.

The doppler report shows:

Aortic sclerosis without stenosis

Mitral annular calcification, trace mitral regurg.

Mild to moderate  tricuspid regurg

Structually normal pulmonic valve without significant stenoses or regurg.

Moderate pulmonary hyperrtension.

I do suffer from anxiety and had this test done in a hospital i was never in before. My B/p is slighky ekevated and I take 5 mgs Lisinopril. I do have white coat syndrome for years. Also take 81 Mgs aspirin for a suppose carotid blockage that was mesuring 16-49%. Last carotid study the tech told me she sw nothing and this is why I went to anothr facilty. This report says I have very mild blockage on both carotids, 0-16%.

THis tech that did my echo only went under the left breast and a short period at the base of the sternum also the base of my throat. If I recall the other Echos I had done previously the tech had moved the probe to different areas.

I have done a search on PH and have myself so anxious about it. i have no symtons and am seeing a cardio next week.

I don;t know if these are the measurments you need for Ph but my tr peak vel.was 320.9 mmhg
tr peak gradiant 41.2, my pasp was 51.2 and Ra pressure was 10.0

My ef was 50>

Plese give me your opinion as wht is going n and how can this happen in teo years.Advice on meds and specalist to see.

Thank you, line

Pulmonary HTN may be primary, ie, due to hyper activity of the pulmonary vessels or more commonly may be cuased by structural heart disease such as severe mitral valve diseae or severe diastolic heart failure.  You have neither.  Echos tend to be inaccurate in estimating pulmonary pressures.  Given that you are asymptomatic and have no reason to have pulmonary HTN I would not pursue this any further.  If it really bothers you and you would really like to know the real answer, there is an invasive test, called a right heart cathterization which is very simple and would provide us with exact answers.  Again, because you have no symptoms, I am not sure that this is worthwhile.  I would therefore continue to monitor this.  Next time you have an echocardiogram, which by the way doesn't need to be done until 2-3 years from now, you should have this reevaluated.  Hope this helps and I hope it eases some of your anxiety.

thank you for your time. You have really made me feel much better. My G/P really stays on top of things and I received a letter from her saying my echo was fine and watch my B/p.I should never do a internet search.

Thanks again, line
