If you know that the pain is non-cardiac I would suggest you ask this question on the gastro-intestenial forum, though I'm not sure if that's what they call it. It sounds like a gastro or colon or stomach related problem. I know that gas can produce very sharp stinging pain along the sides. I think it will depend on the duration of this pain and a full blood panel wouldn't hurt either to help you determine what's wrong.Good luck to you!
The vagus nerve connects to the stomach and to the heart and my doctor tells me this is why its so difficult to tell the difference between heart and gastric pain sometimes. Has your doc suggested antacids or omeprazole or similar?
i can't seem to get my primary care doc to refer me. don't know if he believes he can resolve, but no help yet. and the specialist in my town wont give appointment without referral even though my insurance doesn't require referrals. this is the second or third time this has happened. the doctors, websites, all say go to ER just to be sure and each time it's come back with everything fine. will keep trying to see a gastrologist. i've done more reading on gastro sites and it sounds like it could be gallbladder or pancreas. i have a niece and co-worker that got pancreatic cancer and it was not diaganosed on time to fix it. my niece lost a lot of weight, looks sick, and has to really watch what she eats. my co-worker died. and i think that's what Patrick Swayze died from as well. so you can imagine how too much reading and research can be bad.
thanks for the information.
appreciate your comments. have not been given any meds for gastro issue. er doc said since the nitro helped it must have been heart. i've read on 2 sites that just because nitro seems to take away the pain it's misleading and docs should still look for the root cause when there's no evidence of heart issues that caused the er visit. still working on getting someone to figure this out. thanks again
