sorry to hear abou your problem  i know about it has been  my lad also blocked a another artery  surgery the only thing they said could be done  that my blockage in lad controlled 75%  of the hearts work to the body even if a blood clot went tru  i would die that if i got lucky and live at best i would need a transplant  i have to tell you it was a shock  i went from a mild heart attack to a blocked lad  i still think im dreaming and just waiting for some one to wake me up  my fear as my paihn started for six weeks to feel better  now im getting pain again  so i worry about bypass failing  my doctor has agreed something not right so he will see me tomorrow .

After a bypass you will feel all kinds of strange sensations. As the muslces and nerves
heal in the chest, you will feel tingling, stinging and occassionally you will feel something
like cold water running down the inside of your chest. I am sorry but I can't really answer
your question, all I can say is that I had so much discomfort for three months that I couldn't really tell what was going on. One night I turned over in bed (in my sleep) and I
heard a loud 'crack' from my chest. I honestly thought Id broken some ribs but there
was nothing wrong. With regards to stenting or bypass, it depends on the blockage.
If it is a long blockage, then sometimes a cardiologist will attempt to put a catheter
through the mass for stenting, but it must be a straight blockage. For the procedure
to be safe, the catheter must stay inside the artery and it is possible for the doctor to
accidentally put the catheter through the artery wall. Some blockages are on a slight
curve making the situation a lot more risky. Sometimes the blockage is too near the
junction of another major artery such as the circumflex. So to say "I had a blockage of
xx%" means nothing. It could be 99%, only 3mm long and near no other major vessels
making it easy for the doctor. the blockage could be 70% but right next to a major
junction and 30mm long. I am facing a risk on 3rd sept for rotablation. My LAD has
100% blockage next to the circumflex junction and is around 35mm long. It is also on
a curve. The cardiologist will try to get a catheter through the centre of the blockage
through the curve and then inflate a balloon on the other end to stabilise it. He will then
pass a tiny high speed drill down the catheter to obliterate the plaque. If the catheter is
through the artery wall on the other side of the blockage, the drill will make a 3mm hole
in my LAD. Then a stent will be placed along the lesion but it will entirely cover my
circumflex artery. A hole will be made in the side of the stent to open this vessel up and
then I will hopefully feel much better. This was obviously refused two years ago due to
risk and a bypass was performed but it failed. Now it is the only option apart from a
transplant. So stenting or bypassing is based on several factors of which one is risk
weighed up against benefit. If a risky procedure is not going to produce much benefit, it
will not be considered.

My older brother (at the time was in his early 30's) had a blocked LAD.  This was back in the mid eighties so don't recall how much but it was bypassed.  Side note, he is still very active some 20 years later.
