plavix and root canals

by Louie777, Jan 22, 2009 07:59PM
I have 11 stents, 8 coated, and have taken plavix since 2005.
I must have a root canal next week, do I need to stop the plavix
if yes how many days before, or can I continue taking it
thru the procedure?( I do not like to stop it as I do not feel good anytime
I have stopped it)

You probably already have your answer to this, but since I'm on Plavix and just had a root canal today, I thought I'd provide an answer. For a normal root canal, you should not need to stop using Plavix. You really should not have a bleeding situation with a root canal. I don't know the specifics with your root canal, but that is what I found with mine.
