No. The report states greater than 99% focal stenosis in the proximal right internal carotid with good distal signal, not the right middle carotid artery..sorry
Did you mean right middle cerebral artery? That would be entirely different from a carotid artery.
hooperalex,
If the carotid artery is not completely occluded he could potentially undergo either. The next step is typically a carotid angiogram. Some surgeons will operate with the MRA.
The indications for carotid stenting versus endarterectomy are currently evolving, with the main issue being reimbursement. While surgeons tend to favor CEA and invasive cardiologist tend to favor stenting, the most important thing to consider when choosing one procedure is the volume of procedures the physician performs as the risk and outcomes of the procedure are directly related to the volume.
The options for both are available at the clinic. If you are interested in carotid stentind, Dr. Samir Kapadia, Dr Jay Yadav, Dr. Deepak Bhatt, or Dr Chris Bajzer in the department of cardiology would all be able to facilitate your procedure. You can reach thier office through the clinic operator at 1-800-CCF-CARE.
good luck
