Arrythmias

My 24 hour holter monitor results showed 4,000 arrythmias mostly from the bottom chamber of my heart.
I am currently taking beta blockers, but I would like to know how to handle stressful situations at work (Court Services Coordinator for Juvenile Court in our County) because even though the meds. work well, during stress at work, the arrythmia's kick in full force.
Also, how serious is it that there were 4,000 arrythmias recorded in a 24 hr. period? Is that considered mild, mod. or severe?
Thank you very much for your thoughts on this subject.

after  meals is the worst time for me too, and for most of 'us'  from what I can gather. Try some antacid - I take tissue salts 'Acidity' tablets from the health store during the day and after meals and Zantac at night. These little tablets help with reflux etc and aren't actually drugs. Try some - won't hurt. Having a little walk around also helps settle things after dinner. I'm over 60 and weigh 260lbs so I do like my dinners! I must sound like a healthfood freak but believe me I only started with these couple of things in desperation because the doctors could't help. Didn't I mention that I'm really a cat? sorry.....purrrrrr......

I have about 8500 PVCs a day, but they only really bother me after eating my evening meal, if I lean back in my recliner. Mine seem to be worse when my heartbeat is slower, so I don't take a beta blocker to slow my heart down.  When I feel PVCs, I'll sometimes get up and walk around. If my pulse gets to the mid-eighties, the PVCs tend to lessen and go away. I feel them sometimes when I'm going to bed at night also.

I had a treadmill stress test last year and had no PVCs at all.  It was after that that I discovered my PVCs occur most often when my heart rate is slower and lessen when my heart rate goes up some.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know that the number you have per day is only half of what I have.  The Rescue Remedy drops sound like something good to try. I know that my vet recommends it for cats...why not people?  LOL.

I've had runs of SVT's for many years, and went through a period where I was having 'extra systoles' (think that's how you spell it) when my heart felt like it missed a beat and then 'thumped' on the next one. What are yours like? are they the 'missed beat' or different? What medication do you take? I take Atenalol and it's helped me greatly but I still have problems but not as often. I get very stressed and know how that feels. When I get stressed out  I take a low dose of valium which I find usually works, and also unusually some antacid because I'm convinced that a lot of this is caused by our stomach's and digestive system. I had a high stress job where I had to deal with lots of people a day,(not nice ones) all day everyday full on and the only way I made it through was to have a bottle of naturopathic 'stress relief' drops, which I took regularly in water (just had a cup on the desk and sipped away) and did a little mental and breathing exercise kind of like Cindypet3 does. I live in Australia and you probably can't get the same drops in US but I'm sure the health stores have lots of 'SOS' and Panic medication. Why don't you have a look at them? My local doctor takes them all day because he has panic attacks too, and we know they work. all the best - let's know about my questions when you feel like it.

I've suffered from pac's & pvc's for years. If you are already prone to have them, it's almost inevitable that the stress on your job will make them worse. The number you are having, although extremely distracting, would probably be considered mild or moderate to a cardiologist. I've read many posts on this forum where folks were having 10,000 to 20,000 daily. I currently take a calcium channel blocker for mine, which seems to work better for me than the beta blockers. Best wishes in dealing with this.

Well Cindy you could put it into perspective for yourself when you know that the human heart on an average beats over 100,000 times in a 24 hour period so hopefully that makes you feel a little bit better about what is going on.  The second thing that i really apply when i get stressed out is a thing called "Smell The Roses ...Blow Out The Candles"  which is when you catch yourself clenching your teeth, or making fists with your hands, our feeling your heart getting a little jumpy doing the dance as i call it ...i found what works is closing my mouth and breathing in slowly thru my nose and then opening my mouth and slowly blowing out the air and i do this like 5 times and maybe more if its warranted and it hasn't failed me yet in a stress full situation and it actually pretty good for your oxygen levels too...just a thought and i hope you get thru this because we are both Cindys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
