Arrhythmia - beta blockers SSRI - bad combination?

Hello.  I am taking acebutolol 200 mg td and 20mg lisinopril.  At rest, the acebutolol does not keep my rate down - only 72-80 rest.  Further, when i try to exercise (pulse to 140 bpm) I get multiple pvcs.   BP is controlled.  Recently, I was put on Paxil 10 mg for anxiety - now my pulse runs constant 110 at night and 84 during the day with intermittent PVCs,  should I discontinue Paxil - is there a negative link to beta blocker therapy?  History: Chronic Anxiety (15 yrs), HPN (20 yrs controlled)  Recent Cardiac MRI, Echo, Thall Stress Test all negative.   My opinion is that the Acebutolol beta blocker is not slowing my rate enough and exacerbates the pvcs esp under stress.  i have had similar experience with atenolol and nadolol.  Thanks.

I always thought Paxil / Zoloft were tough to get on for anxious types.  They tend to increase anxiety when first started.

Don't be afraid to ramp up slowly.  Talk to your doc about it too.  There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo.  I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID,  Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil.  There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.

No matter what do not stop taking any beta blockers or meds that the heart doc has given you suddenly because you could be in for a world of hurt here,  It is common if you are not weaned off of the meds and stop suddenly that you will experience a little ditty called re bound which means that your symtoms will magnify X3 or more and you don't want to go thru that believe me....been there done that a couple of years ago and my doc made me sit down and watch a video for 15 minutes on what can or could happen...it was a teaching video for other medical pros and i think he just wanted to teach me a lesson...it worked believe me.....if you have issues w. the meds you are on you seriously should not change anything until you sit down w. your doc and ask him the questions that are bothering you so much
