CQ10 Side Effects Interactions With Beta Blockers

For those of you that urged me to try this.  Did you find that there were any side effects?  I read that it does not do well with some Beata Blockers?  Are you able to take it with other vitamins and minerals?  Im going to buy it today.

I tried the CQ10 and it was interesting.  It felt like I had an oxygen mask on for a few hours.  Its like everything opened up and I could breath really well.  It kept my bp and heart rate down so I didnt need to take a med.  Only a few PVC until 9 hours later.  Been having strings all week and today was the first day that was mellow.  Got a really bad headache at bed however.  Tylenol took care of it.  Ill try it again and see what happens.

Lorely, you are the second person this week to mention L-carnitine to me.  Can you tell me what it is?  I already take magnesium too.

Ladyjake, I dont know about the whole allergic thing.  I would ask a Pharmacist.  I took vitamin E a while back but didnt take an asprin the day that I took the vitamin.

Ken, how long did you try the CQ10 for, a week, two weeks straight or a few days?

I'm on an Ace inhibitor and co q 10 makes me very gittery. I tried it and gave the CoQ10 a second try. Got gittery and a very fast heart rate. I stay away from it. I also get PVC's could be why I'm sensitive to it.

Hi, I have just a few questions I'm hoping somebody may have an answer for.  If you are allergic to shellfish, tuna, etc., can you take the Fish Oil supplements?  And, I thought that we had to take the magnesium (also heard that magniesium glycinate was best) in conjunction with calcium (and maybe potassium?).  Third question, if you are taking 81 mg of aspirin, can you still take the "E"?  And lastly, 'hempseed oil is supposed to far outshine the flaxseed and omega's, has anybody heard about this?

Also, haven't had much luck with the 'B' stress compounds or the CoQ10's (maybe need more than 60 mg's?).  This is so frustrating.  Have been having a few 'runs' of these skips that feel like it's the proverbial end.  HATE is a strong word, but I think we all agree that it fits our feelings for the PVC's.

I forgot to say that the magnesium should be preferably either chelated magnesium or magnesium citrate, because those two forms have the best "bioavailability", meaning that they are well absorbed by the body.

I would like to share with you what seems to be working in my case. I have PACs that have really been acting up for quite a while now; I was getting them nonstop for days on end, every 2 beats, every 3 beats, you name it. I have always refused to take beta blockers because they lower your BP and I cannot afford that, given that my BP is quite low to begin with. Plus, it looks like the beta blockers do not really cure the skipped beats, they just mask them or make them less noticeable. I did research on the web and I stumbled upon the name of a cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Sinatra, who is an integrative cardiologist, i.e., he treats his patients not only with conventional medications but also with supplements, and sometimes even exclusively with the latter (sounded like the dream doctor for me). He wrote a book called The Sinatra Solution: Metabolic Cardiology ,where he explains his theories and findings, and in relation with arrhythmias, he advises to use what he calls the miracle trio, or words to that effect. The three supplements are magnesium, CoQ10 and L- carnitine. Following his advice, I have been taking 400 mg magnesium, 100 mg CoQ10 and 1,000 mg L-carnitine daily, for more than two weeks now. I have to tell you that I feel so much better that I hardly can believe it. I still do not dare to hope, I'm sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop. But at long last I have been able to sleep at night without fearing an attack of the dreaded skips. If this really works, God bless Dr. Sinatra... I'll keep you posted.

The best thing for me to curb the PVC's is veggie juicing.  There is something in the veggies that calms them down a lot.  When I was juicing daily I felt great and then I fell off the wagon after I started to feel better so now I am going back to it again.  There is a book called Crazy Sexy Cancer that has a great section on food and how it helps.  We dont have cancer but if they can keep off terminal cancer by eating better than we can help these PVC's.  Ive tried some things from the book and felt way better.  Like I said I just stopped doing it so much when I started to get results.  Bad idea on my part.

I spoke with a Pharmacist today and he said that the CQ10 is good but you have to be careful with bb because it lowers your blood pressure.  If I took it with my Propranolol I would be in a heap of trouble.  I only take my med as needed so I can get away with the CQ10.  My Cardiologist told me to take Fish Oil so I did.  Its just plain good for you anyway.

Not much has kept them away entirely but when I was getting Acupuncture 2x per month and juicing all the time and taking my herbs and supplements I felt great.  The great thumps turned into smaller more berable ones.  Im slowly getting back into that routine.

I have been interested in supplements for a v long time and have tried to find something to take for my skipped beats, etc....so I have tried just about everything that is either rec by someone in the health food store or a friend, etc. Plus I try to read as much as I can to stay well informed. Unfortunately, there is so much contradictory info, on the web as well as just coming from people with whom I have spoken about all of this. One time I read that it's good to take fish oil with meds, and then a month later, read the opposite. I wish there was SOMETHING that would help suppress the skips that I get daily. I tyr staying well hydrated, eat well, stay away from caffeine, sugar,..you know...all the things we are suppose to do but no matter what, I have bad days, like today. I have read that controlling PVC's, etc with meds is almost impossible. So what do we do?? I wish I had the answer and believe me I have done my homework. I have spent a fortune on supplements and the latest was magnesium oil. You can google it.

Good luck everyone!!!!

Hi Lucy
Did your doctor suggest taking it?  Just curious because my doctor told me not to take fish oil or CQ10 or rather he told me it wouldn't help with the pvc's.    I wish they would all get on the same page.  However I guess everyone is different and what might be good for one isn't good for another.  I take tenormin (atenolol) so maybe this is why he told me not to take it.  All I'm taking right now is a multi vitamin from Costco.  It was recommended by one of my daycare parents that actually assists in ablations and such over at UCSD Thorton.  I have noticed a big decrease in my pvc's for now but that could be because my anxiety is down after seeing my doctor.  I plan to add another 200mg of magnesium in another 2 weeks.  I'm adding one thing at a time to make sure I can figure out if something is irritating my heart.  I also started to eat a bananna a day.
