Completely out of shape?

So easy to do.  Got a new job that I love but it isn't very physical.  However, when I get home, I am just ready to sit and veg.  I have been doing this for a few weeks.  I finally decided to get up and move again (it's been too hot to walk outside) and my heart has just be awful when trying to exercise.  Even walking to my car (far away from work) with my heavy bag is causing a lot of hard PVCs.  I have never had this with any real regularity.  Otherwise, it's pretty calm. I want to exercise but these things try to stop me in my tracks.  Especially when my workout requires arms over head or quick tightening of the body (core).....very weird.

Thank you for this thread.  I looked at my husband last night and asked, "What does it feel like to have a normal heart beat?".  It's been so long that I have forgotten what it is like not to feel and think about your heart beat every damn moment.  Must be heave.  But I shouldn't complain, there are certainly worse things that can happen!

Love this description of the "the heart stuff!"  It's perfect.  My Afib has become such a part of my life, that I almost don't know what normal is anymore:P

I can so realte to you, I am going through menopause and every heart issue has been magnified. Nevermind just the heart stuff, throw in the headaches, mood swings, crying jags and hot flashes and you have a real party goin on! The heart stuff is the special guest at the party, the one who stays too long, refuses to leave and won't even help you clean up the mess! :- (

I enjoyed all these posts.  I am going through menopause - such a lovely time, isn't it?  I am going on 1 and half months of straight pvcs - trigeminy.  I am taking maalox, Natural Calm and drink coconut water.  My family thinks I've lost it.  But, it is so hard to stay positive when it's so hot, I can't exercise because of the heat, and I am thumping constantly.  I see the Big Wig in Boston on 9/6.  Have never looked so forward in my life to a doctor's visit.

Today was a little less hot and humid and I had no problems.  I didn't exercise tonight because we had a house showing (yes, it is still up for sale after a year...lol) I also remembered my Calcium, Mg and my C  all in the same day!  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  My yearly Disney vacation is coming and I'd like to do this one without my heart acting the fool!!!!

I just bought an exercise bike for indoors because I retired a month ago and it's been so hot I've hardly been moving at all.  Can't wait for it to be delivered!  I am getting weak and out of shape.  So at least when I watching something mindless on tv, I can be pedaling and doing myself some good.  The nurse at the Preventive Cardiology Fitness Center told me slower and longer exercise is as good as faster.  I always try to do at least 20 minutes, but at a very light pace to begin, then build up.  Also have small weights and do chair exercises for flexiblity.  Anything helps!

It seems as if we haven;t had a day under 100 since the beginning of summer. You are right Rita our crazy hearts don't tolerate heat well ( at least thats what my doc told me ) on top of that I have no thyroid and have always had hypothyroidism even before the cancer, and that makes me even less heat tolerant. I usually love summer, but fall has always been my favorite...sure can't wait for it this year.

Hi ,rita if you go to realage.com they have some good workout videos on there. Also a couple of walking videos which are good. That way you can workout in the ac.I usually do the advanced band workout which I really like. Having 2 heart arrhythmias doesnt seem to bother it too much.I just go slower.Eventually you work yourself into shape ☺

If I lived in that kind of heat, I would be the same way. I don't think people with our whacky heart beats tolerate heat well. Does the heart beat harder to cool the body off or slower? It seems like it would have to work harder to cool the body off....just thinking. Hopefully it will cool off soon for you and Elli. Here in Idaho it feels like fall already in the evenings which is a real bummer because we haven't had much of a summer here at all this year. It's been horrible for my garden.

Hi Rita, I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but I have been having a hell of a time this entire summer. Tired, weak, and like you said, just walking to the car with heavy bags makes my crazy beats start up. Is it the rediculous heat we have all been having this summer? I'm not sure, but between that and my happy, happy menopause- I've just about had it. Probably isn't helping that I haven't been sleeping right, like 3 or 4 hours a night with a short nap in the afternoons. As far as being out of shape, my out of shape is out of shape. Been trying to eat right, exercise more, but when I walk outside and its 105 with the heat index, I run ( ok walk ) back inside and plop down in front of HGTV. Time to break out the old Richard Simmons DVDs maybe?
