post pacemaker problems

I had a pacemaker inserted in 2008. I had the typical itching and twinges, but almost 3 years later, I am still having these problems. Recently I am having pains when I move my left arm, and there is swelling, burning, stinging and tenderness on the left side of the incision site and close to my underarm. Should I still be having problems, old and new, almost 3 years post-op?

Have you found anything out?  My 81 year old mother is experiencing the same thing nearly 2 years after her pacemaker was put in.  It's causing her a great deal of pain and she is tired all the time.  The pacemaker tests fine every time, but I think there is more to it.  Please let me know if you have found anything out.

Hi
I have had a pacer for many years and now on my second one.  I have not had any of the trouble to which you are referring.  I had the typical pain right after the implant but a Tylenol took care of that and it lasted just a few days.  You could have an infection in the pocket, so I'd call the doc and have it looked at.  You should not have any pain.  Good luck to you.

I can not speak from the perspective of being a PM patient, but I do know two people who do use PMs.  They have none of the problems you describe.

Talk with your doctors, they should be able to help you.

Hope if anyone on the Community has direct experience they will read your post... this response will keep you on the front page longer, keep checking back.
