Do I really have Tachycardia?

When I measure my blood pressure and heart rate and home or doctor, both using digital measuring devices, it shows my heart rate at 115+. When I measure it myself using 2 finger on my neck and a stopwatch I get 90-95. When someone else is doing it I can feel my heart rate get faster. So I don't know if anxiety or something kicks in or if I do have Tachycardia. My blood pressure is from 120-130/70-80 and I feel fine throughout the day. My doctor gave me pills for the Tachycardia I don't know if I should take them or not.

Thanks.

if you have a home pulse device I would reserch how effective it is mine is a polar pulse watch and its one of the leading brands. It matched the hospital's ECG machine when I was in the hospital a fue weeks back. I have 2 pulse watchs and a BP monitor and thay are all as accurate as each other.

Trust what feel for sure but also trust in infomation. If your finding the home pulse device to be showing lower than when your in the Dr then tell the Dr. I for one had the oppersite problem I was getting lower heart rate when the Dr checked me and even when I was admitted to hospital my heart rate was lower it did not become tachy easy like normal. I was so anxious for several days and by the 3rd day in hospital the Dr's finally saw the true tachycardia problem and even then I was still lowish for what I've been dealing with when I walk. as sitting on my but in hospital was not going to show them what happens when I walk. They refused to do a stress test and the first cardiologist said I was just fat and lazy and ate too much (I lost 2 kg in hospital) he was extreamly rude to me I dont over eat it has been hard to loose the weight that the zyprexa med I was on helped me gain when I was seriously depressed. even harder when my body would not let me exercise much as I was crash phyisicly like a diabetic but I'm not diabetic.

in the end if your honerst with your self and the Dr the truth will come out. I cant see the harm in making sure its not your heart before turing to the diagnoises of anxiety.

Well your blood pressure sounds great to me and you have to remember that a normal pulse rate for non athletes is 70-120.  Tach is something that when you have it tigrang you will definately know it.  It has its own distinct symtoms and you literally feel like your heart is jumping out of your chest and alot of times can see your shirt move when it happens.  Some people like myself has tach's out in the 300's during my worst episodes....its scary as heck and trust me when it goes you go in the fast lane to the E,R, .....as far as your meds go......you obviously got pro active and went to the doctors which is great and if your doc said that you need the meds you need the meds...its not something that you want to self diagnose .... if you aren't comfortable i would get a second opinion...you didn;t say what type of pills he have you for the tach...you may want to post that so members can weigh in on their experiences...you also didn't say if you went to a heart doc or your family doc....i am not a big advocate of family docs giving patients meds for heart issues...to me that is a heart docs job and he/she will do very specific tests that most family docs do not have in their offices...............

I had an ECG done and also a cardiogram (I'm not too sure on the terms, one was the x-ray type thing and the other one was with all the wires) both were fine.

Thanks for the replies.
