I agree w. both posts above here...it is easy for the docs to say not to worry because the episodes are benign when we are the ones having to deal with this. Try to remember Jo that the heart beats on an average of over 100,000 times in a 24 hour period so that will put it into perspective for you and if it applies to you when women go thru menopause that these incidents seem to rear their ugly heads unfortunately on top of the hot flashes and everything else. And yes the bowels do effect the heart because of the issue of bearing down and when that happens think about your heart at the time...its almost like holding your breath while you work away to ease the constipation and that can definately effect the way that the heart beats sort of like using the vagal manuever to reset the heart...its all electrically based and it seems like anything we do can set these off...but like caregiver said...the doc has your best interest at heart or he/she would be out of business.
a diagnosis of benign PVC's and the doctor's recommendation "not to worry about them" is easy for them to give but hard for some of us to deal with. Considering what the frequency is for most of us just a few PVC's now and then would be welcomed.
You should listen to your doctor when he/she said "don't worry about them". I am sure he did not make that comment lightly.
While it is true that these electrical events are abnormal, they are common, even in relatively healthy people.
