Today I had a little fever due to which my heart rate was about 115. The when I took a deep breath I felt an uneasy thump in my chest???? What could be the reason???

Hi,

See the previous post, and the excellent explaination here by Caregiver.

The thump in your chest was a premature beat, probably a PAC, as explained in the previous post. It seems you have some of those, and you'll just have to live with that for a while. They are a little funny. In my case, they go away for a long time, then they come back, and no one understand why.

Have you asked your cardiologist for an appointment where you just can explain your cardiac worries? May be a good idea, it helped me a lot..

For every degree in body temperature above normal the metabolism necessary to maintain the fever increases oxygen demand about 13%, more-or-less. This causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen per unit volume passing through the carotid sensors and the heart speeds up to compensate.

It is unlikely you have developed any sort of a serious problem, although the "uneasy thump" could have had a cardiac etiology.
