Heart sensation that causes a quick shot of adrenaline

Hi, I am a 23 year old male.  I have no family history of heart attack, stroke, heart disease, cancer or any sicknesses related to death.  I was a 3 month premature baby., never smoked or did drugs.  But anyway, I need expert advice on my heart conditions that I've been feeling.  I first felt this feeling in Feb 2010 right before I was diagnosed with Lymes, so I dont know if its part of it maybe??  (Stage 1 Lymes, cured with Dyxecylone).  A couple times per week, I have this feeling in my chest (like my heart would stop) followed by a quick shot of adrenaline and a spike in blood pressure.  Sometimes it will make me cough, as though to get it going again.  The only way I can describe it, is a sudden shock-like feeling in my chest, which causes a quick shot of adrenaline, like the feeling of getting scared by someone. And this adrenaline shock goes from my chest, throughout my arms, like a quick shot of intense blood flow. But, again, its a quick feeling for a split second.  I have no feelings of adrenaline or nervousness or anxiety before this happens.  It comes out of no where.  It hasnt happened in 2 weeks, but sometimes it comes out of nowhere, only during resting activity.  Can you please help me?  I am scared it might cause sudden death.  Should I be worried?  I went to a cardiologist and they did  2 EKG's, I need a holter moniter because the 2nd test came out different, but he said that it might have just been due to placement of the wires on my chest. P.S, no chest heaviness, trouble breathing, or dizziness.  Thanks so much.

Hi,
As you read in my thread, something similar happens to me and others too, so you're not alone. It's been happening to me for years and fortunately I have never passed out, so the first thing I'd advise is to keep that in mind and try not to worried about it before you hear more from your cardio. (easier said than done!)
I also get the feeling of adrenaline rushing through my arms when that part of it kicks in.
I've never had Lyme that I'm aware of BUT a various weird symptoms started for me literally within the space of an afternoon with a few more starting the next weekend. Some of it is ongoing but overall I've been very gradually getting better since then. I do think some kind of internal event or virus set it all off due to this sudden-ness, so maybe your Lyme does indeed have something to do with - perhaps triggering an inherent tendency toward palps, etc, if not directly causing them.
