Pain at cardiac pacing wire removal site following open heart surgery
My fiance had his cardiac pacing wires snipped at the skin level following his open heart surgery. Within 1 hr of the wires being cut, he started complaining of a sharp pain, like being stuck with a sharp object right at the site where the pacing wires where cut. It is now 7 weeks after surgery and this pain is still causing him to lose sleep at night. He breaks out in a sweat with this pain. Can they remove the retained cardiac pacing wires? If yes, how difficult/dangerous is the procedure?
