24/m Post Surgery Chest Pains

I am a 24/m who had hernia surgery 2 weeks ago.  Yesterday I went to work and had pain in my chest.  It felt like someone was sitting on my chest when I tried to breathe deep.  When I stand up or try to walk too quickly my heart rate jumps up and I have to remain still until it calms back down.  I was busy at work yesterday but not stressed.  I decided to sleep on it and see if it got better.  It is at about the same level it was yesterday and I am thinking I may need to go see a physician.

I have had a larger than average amount of stress in the last month and I don't know if maybe it's catching up with my body.  I fear that it may be a blood clot from my surgery that has moved into my lungs.  I recently had blood work, and EKG, and chest x-rays and everything came back clear.  I would appreciate any responses.

With those symptoms and a recent surgery, a blood clot is on the lungs is the most likely event.  You should be evaluated by a physician and I would recommend the emergency room so you can see a physician as soon as possible.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your input.  I went to the ER yesterday afternoon.  After an EKG, blood work, an X-ray, and a CT scan I received a clean bill of health.  They were glad I came in and said to get rest and hydrate.  I am just glad I have insurance to cover most of the costs.  Thank you again.

I should also mention that I am and non smoker and live a health and active life style with no previous medical conditions.  I am 6'3" and weigh 166lbs.  If that matters.
