I am a 59 year old female and have 1 stent, and mild aortic valve insuffiency, pvc's and controlled cholesterol and bp with meds. On my last catherization to check and see if all was ok because the stress test appaentely did not look as good as they want. They found nothing additional wrong, and told me my LVEF was about 60%. For my age is that good or should I work to make that higher, and how? What is the range of LVEF from 10% to what and when should I become concerned.
And with mild aortic insufficiency will it always stay mild?
Hi David,
That is a tough situation. All your tests are normal -- this suggests you have a very good long term prognosis. Because you are having symptoms that are not related to PVCs, I would have to conclude that your symptoms are not related to a heart rhythm problem. There is not much an electrophysiogist can do treat symptoms that are not related to a heart rhythm. It is not out of line to consider that this might be from anxiety -- I know people hate to hear this. It is worth trying a medication like an SSRI to treat anxiety and even trying several different types if one doesn't work -- try another. You have nothing to lose by trying. It is would not hurt to try a medication like 07charger is talking about to treat reflux. Make sure you talk to your doctor before starting any new medications. I also agree with 07c that sometimes it helps just to know that you are not alone and talk to others with the same concerns.
I hope this helps. Good luck and thanks for posting.
yes I feel your discomfort I have been having these on and off for 17 years, but they seem more frequent as I get older. The general doctor that I am seeing now says its from my stomach problems as I do have bad acid reflux, because the lining between the stomach and heart is very thin layer and when I am having bad episode of acid it does seem to get worse. My chest will feel tight sometimes then skipped beats but as soon as the food I just ate decides to come back up ( gross I know) I feel better. I have been to several gastrolgist and have been on every acid reducer you can think of, I am fairly confident this is my cause, but my next move is to be alergy tested for foods that I might be alergic to that would upset my stomach. All of my heart test came back fine, just found some premature beats on the halter monitor. Sounds like you have the same problem me, and everyone else on this forum have, probably going to be O.K. but are not easy to deal with. I hope this helps. Sometimes its just good to talk to someone about it, and know you are not the only one.
