Heart palpitations then vision starts to go black from the outside in.

Hi, this has happened a few times now, most recently this afternoon. I will be sitting down working or watching TV when I get some fluttering/palpitations in my chest which seems to go up and down. Then there is slight tightness and my vision starts to go black from the outside coming into the centre and I feel like I'm about to pass out. Before I do pass out I have always managed to hit my chest which seems to stop me (not sure if hitting actually helps but I have never actually passed out when I. I do have high blood pressure which I am on medication for, however these incidents always happen when I am stationery.
I would be grateful for anyones thoughts, cheers.

Hello~It appears to me that you may need your b/p meds adjusted, they may very well be causing the dizziness and the partial black out episodes.

I would definitely contact your PCP and discuss this with him/her and see if there are other meds you can take that might not cause the uncomfortable side effects.

I hope you feel better soon. God bless you.

Are you on a Calcium Channel Blocker perhaps or an Alpha Blocker to control your HBP ?
The former might cause palpitations and the latter, increased heart rate, however all HBP meds have a biological  consequence, somewhere in the body.
It could be evident, or hidden or delayed.
It is difficult to tell if the vision symptoms are from the HBP meds or from a separate underlying cardio-vascular issue.
I think that this needs further evaluation.
Anxiety, hyperthyroidism, dehydration could also be  causative factors.

I hope this helps,
Niko
