Tikosyn. Need more feedback, please.

A few weeks ago my cardiologist suggested Tikosyn as a remedy for afib (5 ER trips this year).  The replies I received indicated almost everyone who underwent this regimen either received no relief or had to have an ablation within a year anyway. I'm still trying to make a decision and would appreciate feedback from anyone who has tried this drug.  Thank you.

i was on Tikosyn from May 09 until I had to have a ablation in Feb 10 because I broke thru on Tikosyn. Had ablation done and now am on Ammiodrone.

I had three ablations before I was put on Tykosyn.   I went 9 mo before I was back in tumultuous afib events.  I would try the medication before going with the ablation.  The only drawback to the drug was the initial 3 night stay in the hospital to load on the medication.  Bring plenty of reading material, a laptop, and DVDs.  It was hard for me to be hospitalized and not be "sick".   Good luck to you.
