Return of symptoms after Catheter Ablation

At the end of June of this year I went to the ER with a fast heart rate and the feeling of tunnel vision and dizziness.  I was told I had atrial fibrillation.  They had me on IV meds for 2 days but it did not correct the heart rhythm and scheduled me for a catheter ablation, which was done on July 2.  I haven't had any symptoms after the procedure except for some mild chest discomfort that the doctor said would be normal, and has since subsided.  Today I felt that pronounced beating of my heart in my chest and the sensation of skipped beats again, and when I feel my pulse I can feel the beat "stop" and then restart.  This is the same feeling that had been going on for a few years before I ended up in the hospital, but it wasn't as bad as it had been immediately before I went to the ER in June.  Could this indicate that the ablation was not successful?

Thank you.

Your doctor didn't send you home from the abaltion on a 30 day event monitor? After my ablation in 2008, I was sent home with a monitor. About 2 weeks after the procedure I did record 2 seperate a-fib events. They did not last even an hour. I haven't had any a-fib since. According to my EP this is common. I also experienced alot of pvc's and pac's for a couple of months after. As of today, the pvc's are a rare occassion for me. I was told by several EP's that your heart needs time to heal, and it can take up to 6 months. Good luck in your recovery. Wishing you well, and wishing you enough...

hey
it can take a while for the heart to heal after an ablation and it i common to get quite a few flip-flops after the op as the heart heals so to speak ..never the less if u feel this is the same feeling or symptoms as before it may warrant geting an monitor to record these to see if it is just the heart playing up  from healing or wheather the ablation failed ....did the ep say it was successful op ....i had one for svt a while back and after a few mths had a lot of flips but there were different from the fast rate i had just seem to get a lot of etopics now
hope this will settle down for u
