Jonathan if your sleep test comes out normal then time to worry less and regarding your heart rate try to seek for 2nd opinion in a teaching hospital. I'm not saying that dont trust your doctor just have 2nd opinion to rule out the problem if they both have same diagnosis then go with the pm implant. If you have very serious case i don't think your doctor will even discharge you from the clinic.
I am worried cause doc said if the apnia test comes back normal she thinking of putting a pace maker cause of the low heart rate during sleep. Also what can I do about these skipped beats that's causing thumps?
No you're not going to die during sleep :)
Normal heart rates during sleep can be amazingly low, some people have heart rates as low as 25-30 during deep sleep. It's not abnormal, but if you do have sleep apnea, getting treatment for that is a good idea :)
The only reason I got a holter monitor was because I always feel big thumps so when I went to get results that's when she said I have slow heart rate while sleeping. Also she said the monitor detected skipped beats but didn't say much about that. So with already having these thumps worried about that already I found out this Problem. I Can feel fine throughout the day but as soon as feel thumps it derails me. Will see what's with this sleep apneia test
Hello and let me say that I am sorry for your trouble.
However, if there is one thing I have learned over my long history of heart rhythm-related anxiety, it is that the average heart rates that you are using to determine your state of health are just that: averages. Medical guidelines may state that a normal heart beats at 60-100 beats per minute, but that doesn't mean that this is true for everybody. Some people's hearts beat slower, and some beat faster, but because the majority of people fall into the above-mentioned range, it is this range that is advertised as the one to strive for. Again, this is very misleading. A much better rule to live by is this: judge by the way you feel, not by the numbers that flash on the screen. I know how difficult it is to do this in the modern world, where we are bombarded by 'helpful' numbers and facts of all kinds from all angles, but in truth, all these numbers are doing us much more harm than good. In truth, if you're feeling good, if you can move and laugh and live during the day, and sleep peacefully through the night, then I'd be willing to bet that you are in perfect health. When something's wrong, 9 times out of 10, our bodies will tell us so. They won't wait for us to figure it out on our own by examining statistics that don't mean anything out of context. Take it from somebody who in the past has spent hours upon hours obsessively measuring every fluctuation in her heart rate, blood pressure, and anything else with a numerical value attached, and has finally realised that health cannot be tied down to digits.
In short, if you aren't feeling negative symptoms, there's no way you need a pacemaker. Let your heart do its job, and benefit from the super job it's doing by living life to its fullest every day. Take care!
How dangerous is heart rate of 32bpm while sleeping? I have between 60- 68 bpm awake
Jonathan i also experienced that. Do you have symptoms while awake like dizziness or any fainting spells. If not wait for the md's decision or treatment. Before going into any major procedure like pacemaker implants better seek for 2nd 3rd or more opinion. Unless its life threatening. I had my pacemaker implanted almost 1 year now and it really hit me big time emotionally and psychologically im turning 32 this month and upto now what ive been complaining to my cardiologist last year before the implant still exist. The out of balance feel and severe neck pain and went to other doctors here in Philippines and they are telling me that they think i dont need it. You have to consider also apnea , lyme disease. Have a great day buddy God bless!
