irregular heartbeats

Everytime that i go to the DR.'s they say that my heart beat is irregular.. I know  when I have an ekg that its not normal. only symptoms that i am having is sharp pains and heaviness.. I had a stress test done this year but i guess they didnt find nothing out... so I dont complain no more about the pains in the chest. for what.. the heart dr. schedule me for series of test to find out whats going on and another stress test the other  test was done at the veterans hospital I will be getting the results of that for him even though i told him i had one done he said i was having another

An irregular HB may have nothing to do with what a stress test is designed to check..to be best of my knowledge a stress test check to see how well oxygen is getting to the heart muscle.  If it there's not enough oxygen it may mean bypass surgery is needed.  More tests would be run before that surgery would be undertaken.  I'm not trying to say anything here other than to say I have little optimism that a stress test will help diagnose you irregular HB.  Keep in mind I am not a cardiologist or even a medical doctor, so my view come simply from my personal experience and what I read on this community and elsewhere.

Has you doctor talked about trying any medications? For example, about a beta blocker?

I take an aspirin a day with breakfast to help protect me from the formation of blood clots which can be caused by the type of irregular HB I suffer from:  atrial fibrillation.
