pvc's and arrhythmia's are a pain in our lives aren't they? I first started weird arrhythmia's and fainting when I was 9, it took over 35 years for doctors to even take notice of them - even when I stayed in bigeminy for awhile.

I had pvc's and VT runs continually, day in day out - hour after hour;  from April 27, 2004 (caught on ekg's) until August 26, 2009 when I had my ablation.  An echo on July 7, 2009 somewhere around that time; showed no problems but by August 26th I had developed cardiomyopathy.

It's hard to say how long is "normal" - alot of variances come into play; how many you're having, other heart issues, valve dysfunction etc. The vast majority of the time even if a patient develops CM, it reverses with treatment.

I still get pvc's and developed pac's along with my other stuff going on AFTER I had an ablation, pacemaker/icd implanted and 5 or 6 different meds and treatments.  For some of us, nothing works and there's just no answers.

you may want to ask for a copy of all of your test results and see what is going on with your heart.

sounds like you're extremely anxious,  if so, you may want to try and control some of the anxiety over your arrhythmia's.  to me, pac's are much less intense than pvc's but I have major VT runs and a ton of other issues also

what one of us feels or suffer will probably not be the exact thing others do; I've had every type of arrhythmia with the exception of AFib, caught on monitors and I'm one of the rare exceptions that have malignant arrhythmia's

if you're having 6 to 7 per minute, that's not really ALL day every day...if it were you would be in bigeminy and your dr would have sent you to have an ablation asap and your pvc counts would be 40,000 - 50,000+ daily

I've had so many symptoms there's not enough room to type it all; but you can read my journey in my journal.  Sometimes, I have chest pain, shortness of breath, I faint and my throat feels like it clogs up; like someone's choking me but that is not normal and usually with major VT runs or my HR is around 200.

your other health issues may be playing a part of your arrhythmia's as a cause of the vagus nerve and the connection there; you may want to ask your doctor about that

Well I'm not a physician so I'm giving you medical advice but rather my own opinion.  I do think that if you have normal echo and ekg then I believe using the propanolol would be a good alternative.  I hate being on meds at the age of 37 and you are young so be cautious.  Its a nonselective beta blocker so as long as you don't have asthma should be a good start. My only suggestion is just follow up with the doctor on a regular basis if you have concerns or if symptoms get worse.

My echo plus electrocardiogram was normal. My doctor does not pay much attention to it. He has only given me propranolol 5 mg daily.

I have a lot of experience with this professionally and personally.  I read EKG's 12 hours a day in the ICU as I am a nurse.  We are told they are benign and I am told by the experts that 6 PVCs per minute is upper normal.  Cardiologists don't get concerned until you get to having around 20% of all your beats as PVCs as stated above.  I believe you are 18 and it probably is benign.  If you have followed up with a doctor then I think that is quite reasonable.

However, I have struggled with thousands of PVCs per day for 3 years now with for no apparent reason.  I have tried all the meds except antiarhythmia drugs such as Flecainide.  I have around 13-15,000 pvcs per day per holter monitor.  My point is I have a normal echo but the PVCs actually affect getting an accurate BP on myself and other slight abnormalities.  I am 37 and I would say you have nothing to worry about with only 6 or 7 per minute and listen to your docs. I would love to have only 6 per minute!   My advice is remember you are the one in charge of your healthcare, so keep an eye on things but don't obsess, cut your caffeine down, don't smoke, and don't drink alcohol.  Follow up with your doctor as you feel necessary.  I am sorry you are having this feeling, it is cumbersome at times but in many people it will just stop.

Have you had a holter or other monitor to see exactly how many per min/24 hr? If you haven't get all your test results and look at your holter monitor results.

Typically dr's do not worry until pvc's are over 15-20% of your total daily heartbeats.  In a normal heart that beats 100,000 times daily, that would be 15,000+ pvc's daily. Chances are if your doctor didn't worry over them you're not having as many as you feel.

Very frequent Pvc's above those rates, in a continual motion CAN but doesn't always lead to pvc induced cardiomyopathy, but it takes quite a while for something like that to happen.  Even if you do develop CM, 99% of the time it's healed when the cause is ablated or treated with meds or surgery.

btw...6 pvc's per minute x 60 minutes (1 hour)= 360 x 24 hours = 8,640 pvc's 24/hrs roughly, which my dr explained at that rate they would treat with meds unless there's other circumstances going on...

Just for perspective....from April 2007 - August 2009, I had over 50,000 pvc's daily; talk about scary =)  that's 2257 per hour...37 per minute...a pvc every other second roughly

yes, stress, anxiety and a multitude of other things can make your symptoms worse by increasing the adrenaline (?) and throwing pvc's where you probably wouldn't.

Definitely.

What you need to realize, though, is that PVCs and PACs aren't dangerous, and they usually aren't a sign of any heart disease. It's just a signal that your stress levels are too high, and that you need to relax.

It won't happen immediately, and it certainly won't happen until you realize this.

I am the sort of person who gets worried on little things. Can this sort of behavior increase PVC's/PAC's

I don't have PVCs, I have PACs.

They vary greatly, and it's not always I pay attention to them, but if I'm in the middle of a panic attack, I guess I can have them every third heartbeat or so at the worst, probably 20-50 pr minute, otherwise they can vary from a couple a day to 1 pr minute.

How many PVC's do you get in one minute. I have been to a cardiologist and they do not pay much attention.

Hi,

First (and not that important), try to not use caps in all your posts :)

To the PVCs or PACs, 6-7 a minute, all day, seems like a lot. It's probably not dangerous to your heart, but it's really bothersome and you should probably see your doctor again.

According to my cardiologist, there are only two reasons to treat premature beats in healthy hearts. The first one is if the number is so high that your pumping capacity is reduced (it often happens when the number is higher than 15% of all beats). The second is if they ruin your life quality.

Ask your doctor, and if it's not done, get a 24 hour EKG monitoring done, to see if you really have 6-7 skipped beats pr minute all the day. If you really do, I'm sure your doctor will suggest some kind of treatment.
