skipping heart beats

i have been having odd heartbeats. i can take my pulse and sometimes when im counting my pulse misses a beat and i feel it in my heart. i get it every so often and there are times it last for an hour or so. i have seen different doctors @ have worn monitors for 24 hours and have worn one 4 two weeks. they say they have seen some abnormal beats but they say they dont think its anything to worry about. it seems to happen alot when i lay down to go to sleep but it also happens when i get up sometimes after sleeping. it has happened at work and when i have been watching tv. it doesnt happen everyday but i wish i knew more about it and is it something that i should see another heart doctor for?

Hello beanie826,
Doctors recommend, if there is no other condition, to start on one daily dose of aspirin(upto 75 gm) as you reach late twenties and continue this entire life to prevent heart disease. I had similar problem and it stopped after starting this medication. Hope this works of you.

sounds like PVC's.  Irritating but usually not dangerous at all.  Try holding your breath and bearing down, that works for me about 1/2 of the time!

Blessings

Dear beanie: I have had irregular heart beats also (pvcs) and i have found that there are foods that cause mine.. any thing with caffine... chocolates, coffee, soft drinks, also alcohol and tobacco.. I dont smoke but if i go to a casino where there is lots of smoke, I will start having skipped beats for a while after breathing the smoke for a while.. Ive also found that most ice cream you purchase has caffine added... you also want to avoid energy drinks.. they are a real disaster for our hearts... hope some of his helps.. good luck claytex

Do your palps disappear when you avoid foods that trigger you or do they just lessen?  I find that avoiding some trigger foods may work for a while, but then I get palps eating something that I didn't think caused me to palp, making me think it's not that much food related.  I cut out msg, soy sauce, caffeine, eat low salt, alcohol, and I still get them.
