pulse irregularities

I have access to ekg equipment and have discovered that I have unifocal PVC's at 8 per minute along with PAC's sometimes as many as 12 per minute.  I have a history of having an eluting stint placed 5 years ago in my LAD. I have been unable to control my weight all of my life. I'm 5'10" and weigh 280 pounds.  I've always been athletic and have a muscular frame until the last 7 years.  I retired from an active job and now I am fairly sedentary.  I am 63 years old. I recently presented at the ED with weakness and irregular pulse.  I had a hearth Catherization that showed my stint was intact and clean.  I continue to have irregular pulse and weakness and mild chest pain in the center of my chest.  Should I be concerned about the irregular pulse and continued weakness?

I agree with Cindy. It sounds like your cardiac output is down, which is not an uncommon side effect of a person in your condition. If you haven't had, you need to see a cardiologist for a full workup. Have you been tested for diabetes? Chronic high blood sugars and high blood pressure can create problems with how your heart uses minerals (potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium) which can lead to cardiac arrythmias and inefficient heart function -and worse. Also, it can create stress on your kidneys, adding to the list of bad things...Convinced yet? I hope this helps...((((((((HUGZ))))))))~MM

Hi i read your post...i like to put things into perspective a little bit and try to remember that the human hear beats over 100,000 beats in a 24 hour period.  Obviously doing the math your are throwing about 10% of PVC's/PAC's in a minute which really isn't super extreme here.  The other symtoms is a whole nother ball game to me.  In my humble opinion yes i would be concerned that you are weak and have an irregular pulse rate because obviously you may not be having enough cardiac output to sustain your body and you are getting weak(er).  Its great that your stint is in good shape you don't need that headache on top of what is going on with you.  My thoughts are that you need to see your regular heart doc not an ED because they are limited to time and space.  Sounds like you need a work up done and that your body is talking to you and you need to listen and do something about it.  Only your doc can tell you what to do in the way of exercise and walking and if it is okay at this point...make the appt. the stress isn't worth the 30 minute appt. to relieve the anxiety....good luck..............
