None of here are doctors so please take that into consideration.
That said, from what I understand is your SGOT (AST)higher than your SGPT (ALT)? If so, do you drink a lot of alcolhol? Sometimes the two are tied together.

In any event, if you haven't already,  I'd go to a liver specialist and get checked out. They might want to do more blood tests an ultrasound to see what's going on inside. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Interesting that AST is usually higher in drinkers.  I once enjoyed many a fine scotch on the rocks, splash of water.  No more.  My March blood tests that set off the HCV alarm showed AST 44, ALT 81.  But the really remarkable reading (to me, anyway) was Serum Alkaline Phosphatase 417 (NR 25-150), Liver fraction 81%, bone fraction 19%. I had an endoscopy in Sept 04 and to my knowledge no bile duct obstruction was noted at that time.  Does anyone know anything about the significance of this AlkP reading?  Thanks.  DJ

Glad I could give you a laugh!  The name seems to have attached itself to me.  I hope someone out there knows something about that AlkP enzyme.  It's been puzzling me for months.  On the other hand, it might have no significance at all!  Who knows?
