do not stop and restart tenofovir again in the future and always get 1 bottle of tenofovir extra stored for emergency, even missing the pills is very danagerous, this way you can develop resistance or rduced response to tenofovir.if the drug cannot be taken continuatively without any stop it is best not to take it, a resistance mutant to tdf can be much worst than staying of therapy

also che your ast, alt, hbvdna and possibly hbsag.some clear hbv stopping tdf but you need to check the following to know if you are among them:
hbsag quantity on the decline
hbvdna, doesn t matter, can be any number
ast, alt elevated, the more elevaed the better to clear hbv

it sounds crazy a stupid drug like that can have storage, i see you are in LA..i may understand this for one of the poorest third world countries not LA

Devedander. This is the truth and we must accept it. The chances of getting to negative is so low that i don't nurse such hopes.I have conditioned myself to live a healthy life. I know the virus is not going any time soon.  and pray that a cure be discovered in few years to come.

My doctor has made it very clear to me that while this drug is excellent at surpressing viral load, the chances of sero converting (the real "cure") are very low... I think something like 30% in whites and much lower in Asians (do not go off my numbers, thats just the best I can recall). and has been very careful not to get my hopes too high... I think part of that is just making sure not to built false expectations (promise low in hopes of delivering high) but the numbers I have been quoted make me think you should expect to be on tenofovir for the long haul and if you clear or sero convert it's like hitting a lottery or jackpot....

Sorry to say to you and hope I am wrong on that for your benefit...

good one Devedander what if you are pregnant and they say a pregnant and breastfeeding woman can't take tenoforvir?????i really want to know how long i will be on this medicine. i should have asked this before starting. I was told by my Dr that i can achieve clearance within 3yrs but at that time i thought clearance meant cure. I got it all wrong.

Sorry to hijack this thread but it got me wondering... what if you are very ill (lets say flu) and can't keep anything down for a week... which means you can't keep your tenofovir down...

This scenario doesn't seem terribly unlikely over a 10+ year process - what happens in cases like this where you are off the drug for prolonged periods?

The itches are not caused by tenoforvir. one of the symptoms of hepatitis is itchy skin. The only symptom i have now that i didn't have before starting tenofovir is pain below my right rib.

Thats kinda scaring yourself too much. Why would TNF induce autoimmune hepatatis? If it was IFN then yeah crazy stuff can happen.

i read somewhere that it is bc ur antibodies are making mistake and attacking healthy cells that look like the virus same like when someone has an auto immune disease . it was so scary.

that means we have to accept  it so long as we have this virus. Thanks for your contribution

Ok. Find my latest resuts below:
HBSAG (CMIA): 15,000 IU. HBDNA: Undetectable. HBEAG: Negative. HBEAB:Positive. SGPT (ALT): 94 and SGOT (AST): 40.  Have been taking TNF for almost 2 years now.
My plan is to keep monitoring HBSAg levels every 3 months and when i have a decline below 10,000 i'd then start INF.
Meanwhile i also take Simvastatin with TNF daily with vitamins. I plan to order Heptech products to help protect my organs from any adverse effect of prolonged treatment with TNF. I wil advise you to also follow that route.
Finally, i believe that in the upcomming months, newdrugs which will clear the HBSAg for good will become available.
For me, Taking TNF in the meantime is the safest thing to do.

Hi Nic2012. I have been on TNF for almost 2 years now.  also feel the sensation around the liver area which i never felt before the treatment. I understand it might be some immune response.
Stopping has to have a basis. Either your HBSAG has become low enough for your immune system to finish up the clearing (less than 1500iu/ml depending again on ur genotype) or ur HBSAG has become negative and of course u have positive hbsag. Furthermore if you have to stop for other reasons then it has to be done gradually, and of course requires close monitoring. I will suggest u go back to taking TNF as soon as u can.
