I really feel that HBV MUST have summit to do with causing gums to bleed. I had nose bleeds and bleeding gums before diagnosed. And just recently since starting to take my tablets I have noticed this happening all over again. I'm not sure why but it must have a role to play. I get up in morning and blood comes outta my mouth. I am not coughing it up its just sitting there in my mouth. I am sure also that I read somewhere that nose bleeds were fairly common with HBV.

I had a period when my gums would bleed when I brushed, my nose would bleed if I blew my nose, a scratch bled maybe a little longer than normal... It was a side effect of my liver disease. My INR was high (International Normalcy Ratio) which means it took longer for my blood to clot. I had Hep B as a kid and thus made my liver highly sensitive to any toxins (read: couldn't handle alcohol)  which led to the liver disease. So, in my opinion, it could be very much related to the Hep B since any Hepatitis is a general term for enlarged/fatty liver. An enlarged liver can do things like put extra pressure on other organs and even raise your blood pressure in some instances, hence raising your INR. Just a thought.

Probably not.  But try this: floss daily, use a toothpaste like Colgate Total that contains a specific ingredient meant to target periodontal disease, use a rinse like Listerine which will kill the bacteria that contribute to periodontal disease.  Do this consistently for months and see if the situation improves.

And when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.  If your gums bleed ask, "What's wrong with my gums?"

My gums bleed like crazy too, btw, but I know its a gum issue.
