Antivirals, take it or not?

Hi, i am 42 years, male, was diagnosed with hbv chronic infection 7 years ago, since then my wiral load went up from
HBV DNA 700 IU/ml to HBV DNA 2900 IU/ml and ALT enzyme dropped from 42 U/L to 22 U/o last time It was checked, i also had  FIBRO TEST done, 2 years ago(F0).Lately, though, I have been feeling unwell and my doctor sent me for elastography procedure, (F1)Metavir scale, as a result i was offered entacavir treatment as there are  contraindications against IFN therapy.

Anyway, I am looking to get advice on wheather or not the antiviral treatment will help me, as clearly my immune system is not fighting HBV infection at the moment, on the other hand i am worried about liver fibrosis progresion.

Thank You.

It is unpredictable, but it will certainly not harm.
Just my opinion.

you just need to take 10.000iu of vit d3 daily best with vitk 2 mk7 90-200mcg daily

retest vitd25oh and intact pth by 3 months

all you feel is not correlated to etv, sides effects are extremely rare on this drug, all you feel is probably immune activation which you cn get balanced by vitd25oh around 100ng/ml and intact pth in the low range of normal like 10-20pg/ml

Thanks Stef, You are right, just pick Up blood test results, kidneys functions all within range, but urine PH droped from 6 to 5 a  bit acidic if you ask me, usually it is around 6, anyway still worried about back pains, hope it will go away soon.

HBV DNA go up and down; you should test it again after 3 month; it may come down or may go even higher; it fluctuate ; I think you should wait for another HBVDNA test before taking the drug. I'm 58 and my HBVDNA went up from 1000 in 7/2010 to 3030 in 10/2010 but came down to around 200 to 1000 ever since and I 'm not taking any drug. My fibroscan was 3.8 in 2013.

those are usually immune related problems which are common at immune activation, not etv and absolutely not kidneys.etv will work lowering hbvdna to gether with your immune system aid

those deficient with vit d have these kind of unregulated responses but anyway better unregulated immune response than nothing.....

It is my 12th day of ETV treatment, I have expierienced some rashes and itchy skin over the last few days plus lower back pain symptoms, rash tends to come and go, mainly on my right arm.
I am worried about kidneys reaction to ETV, I did blood tests, waiting for results.
Has Anyone expierienced similar symptoms while on ETV?
Or have any other sugestions?
Thanks

So consider that with low vit d and high oxidative stress it is uselss to keep hbv und to prevent damage, the low vitamins itself make liver damage and kidneys damage, vit d in particular and not to mention the damage to immune system....

He is terribly wrong, where did he study at micky mouse school......hbv makes us low on many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, by doing so oxidative stress increases and liver and kidneys get damaged as the infection and this status lasts decades
i posted a study about this years ago...i remember we are very low in all vit b, selenium, vit d and others

these are all safe to take
I take these and more (B-12, C, Selenium, Zinc, One-A-Day, Vitamin K-2 (w/MK 4 & 7)) -- I'd say most of these have helped out tremendously and are beneficial. I'm sure Stef can add more to the list.

Your doctor is wrong. You can definitely take a LOT of vitamins. Most of us do. Stef will give you a good list. Vitamin D3 is one of the most essential ones you will need. I'd suggest you switch doctors

Most likely you are at the end of immune clearance phase and the beginning of immune control(inactive) phase. To be in the immune control phase, your hbvdna should drop lower. Hopefully you will be in this phase for ever, but you still need regular checkup in case you transition to the immune escape phase.
