Having UND for HBV DNA does it mean that HBsAg is no longer reactive?
no they are tw completely different things, hbvdna is just virus replication that makes damage to the liver and if und it means replication is low, hbsag reflects infected liver cells and as long as positive the virus is there
What will be the result if Hep B profile is taken?
i don t understand but keep in mind that only hbsag negative means free of virus and that hbvdna makes liver damage and hbsag makes no damage but reflects virus inside infected cells
Hi Guys..Any side effects in taking Entecavir for the therapy? Having UND for HBV DNA does it mean that HBsAg is no longer reactive? What will be the result if Hep B profile is taken?
is the patient fully cured from HBsAg?no
or, should he continue the drug?of coruse he must
if so, how long?until hbsag gets negative, many many years
HBsAg positive patient's HBV-DNA [Quantitative PCR] test report was
HBV-DNA : detected; IU/mL : 455; Copies/mL: 2,648
the patient is continuing tablet Entecavir 0.5mg once for 7 months. Now the HBV-DNA [Quantitative PCR] test report is
HBV-DNA : not detected; IU/mL : NA Copies/mL: NA
Now please give me advice that,
is the patient fully cured from HBsAg? or, should he continue the drug? if so, how long?
they stay in the liver inside and outside cells, and even if you reach almost no virions there is the virus template inside liver cells (cccdna) to rebuild infection if there is no protective antibody hbsab or drug to block it
no it just means it replicates less making no damage to the liver ( or kidneys and other organs where hbv can enter cells but not replicate)
while hbvdna is und the virus can even increase and infect more cells, hbsag quantity in iu/ml reflects the number of infected cells and when hbsag is und there is no detectable virus left
hbsag negative is the closest to hbv cure, hbvdna und is only no liver damage
when hbvdna is undetactable, does it mean all the virus is gone? or if there are still virus, then where do they stay?
Barcavir is entecavir generic, it can stop liver damage by making hbvdna undetactable but it has no effect on the virus, there are no drugs to eradicate hbv but only control it, enetecavir is one of the best and most potent drugs for hbv and it must be continued until hbsag is positive
recheck hbsag once a year and keep using the drug until hbsag is negative (it can be for life), if you stop drug you can have an hbv flare that can be deadly in case there is liver damage so do not stop the drug
by the way how much is this entecavir genereic?brand name in europe is about 900-1000usd per month
