HBsAg Positive - Chronic or Accute?

Hello, my tests show HBsAg Positive [Anti-HBc=Negative; Anti-HAV=9; Anti-HBs<2; Hepatitis C Ab=Negative; TSH=1.49]. My Dr said my liver is functioning fine (from looking at my blood tests) so I am not accute.  Does this mean I'm chronic?  If I'm not accute, what else could it be but chronic? I’m hoping it is acute!!! Is HBsAg false positive possible? Thank you! You are very kind for answering.  Sevin

Normally, if you are chronic, your Anti-HBc should be positive. But since your ALT is normal, it is unlikely that you are acute. You can always repeat the test in 6 month's time. Test your:
HBsAg
HBsAb
HBeAg
HbeAB
HBcAb
ALT & AST

Thank you, Stephen!  I am doing full tests this week.  My Dr said from "initial" read of my blood test, I could be "inactive chronic hep B".  Do you think this is likely?  or any chance of acute?  or other?  Thanks again!!!

Chronic Hepatitis B has many phases, one of them is the inactive phase during which your viral load (hbvdna) is very low, ALT is normal, and usually treatment is not needed. Without more details from your tests, we cannot comment.
