HEPATITIS B

Hi there Good Day, I am Desiree and i was diagnosed as a chronic hepatitis B carrier when I had a blood chem. test on my first year in college.. And now I am working I had a blood chemistry again for my regularization requirement.  This is the result:

SGOT ( AST ) 36.66             M: up to 40 u/L F: up to 33 u/L
SGPT ( ALT ) 38.43              M: up to 41 u/L F: up to 32 u/L

HBsAg - 3.100 - REACTIVE ( Cut-off is 0.045)
Anti-HBs - 0.020 - NON-REACTIVE  ( Cut-Off is 0.040)
Anti - HBc ( IgG) 0.016 REACTIVE ( Cut-off is 0.390)

I had a liver ultrasound around year 2007 and the result is normal liver.

What does it mean?

The company doctor prescribed be to take 1 capsule three times a day of Essentiale Forte for three months. She told me that I have a high liver profile.

Am I facing a serious liver problem?
What will I do I had been alcohol drinker and smoker in my college days.

Can I still go out of the country to work?

I am am hoping for your immediate and favorable response regarding this matter.

Thank you and godbless!!

Sincerely

Desiree

It is good that your ALT is normal, but we will need more information to comment, e.g. your HbeAg status, viral load (hbvdna). To get a fuller picture, a Fibroscan and serum HbsAg level will be useful.

Smoking is not good for anyone. Drinking should be avoided as it can injure the liver (and elevate your ALT) especially binge or heavy drinking.

A "high liver profile" and Essentiale Forte are unknown to us. You will need to see a liver specialist, not just an ordinary general practitioner.
