Hep B slight positive after 1st vaccination??

Hi Guys

Can any of you help with this one??  My daughter is just 1yr and adopted from Ethiopia.  She is home with me since end Nov 2010.  She had bloods done in Dec 2010 and had a negative Hep B.

But last week while have a vaccination in doctors office the nurse had a needle stick injury with her needle.  The clinic asked would I allow her to be retested for HIV and all Hepatitis which I of course allowed.  Now it has come back that she has a "slight" positive screen for Hep B. I don't know the actual blood results yet.

But the vaccine she was having when the nurse had the needlestick injury was a multi vaccine including Hep B.  Now the clinic want to redo the bloods in 10 days but it has been so traumatic for my little one twice now and she is still very traumatised from her whole adoption history that I am reluctant to subject her again.  Her veins close terribly easily and it usually takes a number of sticks before they get the blood (it took 6 different attempts the first time).

What do you think?  Could this be the vaccine showing?  Is it a false positive and can you get them in this way?  I feel clinic are more thinking of their insurance than my daughter.  When would be the best time to get it redone if at all?  Should I wait 3 months and have it done??

Thanks for any advice!!!

take immune globulins to slow down hbsag if hbv was transmitted and test for hbsab antibody in 2 weeks, once hbsab shows up >10miu/ml you don t have to worry about anything, she is protected.

you might check hbcab igm to see if it is vaccine or hbv transmitted from nurse, hbcab igm is the first antibody o show from hbv infection but i don t know if it is faster hbsag or hbcab igm to appear
