Visit some very good hbv specialist like ilbs delhi or asian institute of gastro hydrabad. Your doc is completly ignornt.basic rules is do fibroscan hbv dna real time pcr and hbeag test.  And liver funtion test also. If there is any damage in liver found from fibroscan then meddicine start. So visit some good gastro doc first.

I don't believe an ultrasound now is as useful as liver functions and viral load tests.

Chronic Hepatitis B has several phases, so first thing you must do is to know where you are at and what is the state of your liver.
1. Check your HbeAg, HBeAb status;
2. Your viral load (hbvdna);
3. Your liver functions (ALT, AST, etc).
These are the standard tests and minimum.
The followings are also desirable:
1. Fibroscan
2. quantitative Hbsag.
