Don't understand how I may have contracted hep b

Hello! I was just Recently diagnos with hep b, how ever iam totally unsure how I may have contested this illness.
Ive Read that if the illness is in your system for more then 6 months then it has now become chronic hep b and basically I am probably going to die..
I Have never used any sort of drugs in my life, I don't recall ever coming in contact with any blood belonging to any one other then my self. My current boyfriend haas been donating blood for the past yr. Last time he gave blood was last month. ( blood banks are suppose to test for things such as heps & other disease, Right?)
So chances are he doesn't have it.
now in july of 2010 I did go to haiti for a week but I did not get any cutes or any thing of the kind, I also had a surgery in august of that year.
I'm very confused really need some answers..

   If I've had the illness for about 2 yrs without knowing it wouldn't it be really bad by now

& No you can have Hep B for many years and be asymptomatic no illness at all. Crazy! the only way for ppl to know is to tell the doctor to check for everything everytime.
