Am I hooked for life?

Hi community,

I'm impressed to see all these discussions and my head just starts spinning when I read them (I will have to learn the lingo and do some more research...)

I was diagnosed a few years ago but never went for a treatment - the idea of indefinite medication was horrifying to me. Recently I learned about the alpha interferons and thought I could go for that. I am yet to find a doctor who prescribes them. The doctors I went to propose either Viread or Baraclude, not both and not with or after interferon treatment.

Here are my test results back from 2012:
HBsAb - Negative
HBsAg - Positive
E. Sedimentation rate - 26 (mm/hr)
ALT - 211 (u/l)
AST - 90 (u/l)
HEP B Core AB-Tot - >8.00 (Index)
HEP Bs AG - >1000.00 (Index)
Hepatitis B Virus Quant - 4920000 (IU/ml)
Hepatitis B Virus log10 - 6.69 log10 (IU/ml)

Not sure what's relevant, what's not. Anything else was either normal or wasn't checked for. How do I find out whether I am HBeAg-positive or not, and how do I know HBV genotype? What is that seroconversion thing everybody is so hyped about?

I'm just looking for some guidance to further research. Thanks!

your alt also was at that time 5 times higher than normal, how did you not go under any treatment or surveillanced by a doctor, you may have liver damage if that alt stood up all the time, so you should check your liver with a fibroscan first so you know how to proceed .

those tests almost tells you nothing except that you are a chronic carrier. you should check your liver with Fibroscan , go for HbsAg quantitative, as you may see on this forum, hbvdna which you have 4920000 is important when you are under treatment to see how you respond. and the seroconversion means that you manage to eradicate the virus and grow antibodies so you became cured.
