Insurance in Germany for ppl over 30

by Sharp7, Sep 29, 2009 11:39AM
Hi All,
I'm in a bit of a mess at the moment. I'm in Germany as a student. The university rules and the visa regulations require me to get an insurance. Otherwise, neither will the university accept me as a student, nor will the German authorities allow me to stay here beyond a couple of months. And the university requires me to fill in my matriculation application before 12 Oct, which they will grant only if I have an insurance.

The state-run insurance system does not grant a fresh insurance for anyone over 30. (they would have extended it if I had been insured in Germany before I was 30, but will not give a fresh insurance, which is what I need)

2 private insurance companies have declined to accept me (because of my chronic Hep B), and the ppl here tell me that their decisions to reject any applicant cannot be questioned.

I am quickly running out of options. I need to find an insurance company that will take me and not cost me an arm and a leg. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you try international insurance ?

Here is a link :

I heard there are several insurance companies in native countries that insure with pre-existing conditions. That could be other option...

Thank you for the info!
At the moment Techniker Krankenkasse has accepted my case. This is enough to help me get accepted into the university. I'll keep you posted about my updates.
It ***** that I don't yet have net access at home. I cannot post often now.
