Thank You for the information!
There is a very effective vaccine for Hepatitis B. HBV is mainly transmitted from blood to blood contact and vertical transmission. Adults exposed to HBV have a over 95% chance to fight off the infection, but young babies have a 90% chance of becoming chronic.
I'll answer:
1) Is Hepatitis B curable ?
-- There is currently no real cure for Chronis Hepatitis B. There are cases, however, where people have been cured using sequential combo of Anti-virals and Interferon treament. Also, there are a few documented cases on here of respected members beating this disease.
2) If NO how shoul it be treated ?
Barraclude/Entecavir is fine for treatment. They should monitor your aunt's viral load with this, as well as other important numbers like HBSAG and Fibroris, Genotype, etc. (she should get a Fibroscan and Ultrasound to rule out liver damage)
3) Can an ill person infect family members
Yes, this can happen, but only through really close contact. So if toothbrushes or razors or anything which can be an unclean shared household item are used then it can happen. However, the chances of getting it by sharing a fork or drink with someone or using a plate or utensils that were put through wash after use by an infected person are slim to none.
Hope this answers your questions
