Mother To Baby Question Help

by sharon36, Dec 29, 2008 03:22PM
Hello

If a mother has Hep. B Core antibodies Positive, and is immuned with Surface Antigen being Negative and Surface Antibodies Positive.  Would the CORE antibodies transfer to the child during birth?

Is it bad having hep b core antibodies when you are already immune?

would hep b reappear in this case?

help

Antibodies are good.  They will not transfer.

I can't remember exactly but in some cases it is possible to get a relapse when undergoing certain cancer therapies.  Whether or not it is with core antibodies or surface antibodies I don't recall.

thanks

i meant in the case where you have 1600 Hep b surface antibodies measured in your blood can hep b still reappear or are you well protected?

You need surface ANTIGEN to have Hep B.  You don't.  You don't have it.  You have core antibodies.

core antibodies are not harmful when they appear with surface antibodies?
im guessing they're protectors?

antibodies are protectors, indeed !!

i think most of us with HBV on here are hoping that we , oneday, have antibodies !!

you're in the clear..and so will your baby , once he/she arrives :-)
